Port-au-Prince, January 23, 2017 --- The Ministry of Public Health, through the Health Directorate of South, organized with the support of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, a training on the emergency minimum system (MISP) and the clinic management of rape (CMR), in Les Cayes (south of Haiti), from 16 to 20 January 2016.
Some 20 health professionals from institutions in the south (including doctors, midwives and nurses) took part in this training, also organized in collaboration with OCHA, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
According to the reproductive health program for UNFPA in Haiti, this workshop aimed to build the capacity of health professionals to address reproductive health issues in a post-crisis environment.
Concerning the CMR, this aspect of the training, Vavita Leblanc Santos added, sought to empower the medical professionals to ensure the medical management of rape cases.
At the same time, health kits have been distributed to institutions whose professionals have been trained.
The workshop was punctuated by plenary presentations, group works, demonstrations and role plays.
This training is part of the post-Matthew humanitarian response, in order to prepare the departments to deal better with possible disasters.
The next training on the emergency minimum system (MISP) and the clinic management of rape (CMR) will be held in Jérémie (southwest of Haiti), still with UNFPA support.
