Haiti Situation Report #1

Resource date: March 2024     Author: UNFPA Haiti

The security situation in Port-au-Prince remains volatile and unpredictable, with increased gang violence affecting numerous neighborhoods. Approximately 15,000 people, mostly women and children, have been displaced. Less than half of the health facilities are functioning at normal capacity, with only 2 out of 15 UNFPA-supported facilities operational. Compounding the crisis, gangs control the International Port in Port-au-Prince, where a container with life-saving medical supplies procured by UNFPA is stuck. Access to displacement sites is difficult.

Despite these challenges, UNFPA and partners are responding. Hotlines have been established to provide psychosocial support, information, and referrals, and to document cases of gender-based violence. Mobile clinics have been deployed to offer reproductive health and protection services, while dignity kit distribution is ongoing.
