LAUNCH OF A CAMPAIGN TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPACT OF THE HURRICANE MATTHEW ON GIRLS IN HAITI

calendar_today 04 October 2016

Port-au-Prince, Nov. 4, 2016 --- One month on from the day Hurricane Matthew made landfall (4th October 2016), UN agencies championing girls will launch a campaign to highlight the impact the hurricane had on girls (10-19 years old) in the affected area, and to emphasize their power to help society recover from it.

At the heart of the campaign, girls will tell us powerful stories of how the hurricane affected them.

Our staff and partners on the ground will collect the stories, and we will share them across platforms including social media, events, publications, websites and media on the 4th day of each month.

UNFPA and UNICEF in Haiti will start the campaign, but partners from the UN system, civil society and beyond are invited to join.

#4Girls will be embodied by faces of girls who were affected by the hurricane, but didn’t resign themselves to their fate.
