IUD insertion and removal

Port-au-Prince, May 3, 2022 --- 15 health professionals, including 6 midwives, 3 doctors and 6 nurses, participate in a training workshop on the insertion and removal of the Intra Uterine Device (IUD) , in Les Cayes, in the southern department of Haiti, from May 2 to 6, 2022.

This training is carried out with the support of UNFPA, the United Nations agency responsible for reproductive health.

The IUD is a long-lasting contraceptive method that can be effective for up to 12 years.

The Ministry of Public Health and Population seeks to strengthen its efforts to improve women's access to long-term contraceptive methods. He wants to consolidate the capacities of service providers on these methods, in particular the IUD.

Family planning is one of the strategies for reducing maternal deaths in a country.
