Port-au-Prince, April 16, 2024 --- For the period from April 12 to 15, 2024, the UNFPA in Haiti distributed 166 kits of dignity to meet the hygiene needs of 166 women. This distribution was carried out in collaboration with MDM Argentina at the level of the PDI site hosted in the premises of the Joseph Bernard National School, in Freres, Pétion-Ville.
UNFPA and its partners - Fadhris, CHF and CDS - provided free medical care to 969 people, including 46 pregnant women and 76 disabled people for 6 clinics deployed in 6 PDI sites in the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince.
The provision of remote GBV case management services continued with an emergency assistance line for psychological support, the reference and documentation of the cases. Thus, from April 9 to 15, 2024, a total of 48 calls was dealt with via the hotline * 200 set up with the help of UNFPA. Of the 48 calls, 21 people received information on the services offered while 3 cases have been returned to the Sofa Safety Space for Care.
During this same period, community awareness activities on gender-based violence (GBV) benefited 898 women, 520 men, 436 girls and adolescent girls and 177 boys.
