Port-au-Prince, April 24, 2024 --- UNFPA in Haiti is intensifying its responses, with its partners, in terms of prenatal care and prevention of cases of gender-based violence (GBV) for the period from 16 to April 22, 2024).

UNFPA in Haiti organized three mobile clinics in the communes of Cité Soleil, Tabarre and Delmas, from April 16 to 19, 2024. 324 people including 116 pregnant women from displaced sites benefited from a consultation and prenatal care. Of the 116 pregnant women, 31 received an ultrasound. These mobile clinics were carried out with the support of UNFPA partners (CDS, CHF and FADHRIS) in the municipalities of Cité Soleil, Tabarre and Delmas.

UNFPA distributed 500 dignity kits and 100 mother kits to 600 women between April 18 and 22, in collaboration with "Médecins du Monde Suisse". These distributions were organized on 11 sites for internally displaced people in the commune of Port-au-Prince.

The hotline received and handled 46 calls between April 16 and 22. Most calls concerned cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and were referred to GBV support services.

188 victims of GBV including 137 women, 38 girls and 13 men sought help in FOSREF centers supported by UNFPA. 27 of these cases, or 14.36%, concern sexual violence.
