OVERVIEW OF THE SITUATION

In 2021, Haiti experienced a profound deterioration of its political, socio-economic, security, and environmental context, resulting in increased humanitarian needs. Estimated at 4.4 million people in 2021, the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance in Haiti has increased to 4.9 million in 2022, or 43% of the total population.

IUD insertion and removal

Port-au-Prince, May 3, 2022 --- 15 health professionals, including 6 midwives, 3 doctors and 6 nurses, participate in a training workshop on the insertion and removal of the Intra Uterine Device (IUD) , in Les Cayes, in the southern department of Haiti, from May 2 to 6, 2022.

Family Planning

The number of new family planning users is increasing at the rate hoped for by the 6th program. Mobile clinics and community initiatives have demonstrated their effectiveness in sustaining the dynamics of health centers. The leadership of UNFPA has played a major role in family planning policy, its implementation and its quality control. In addition to providing inputs, UNFPA supports training of providers, awareness campaigns including mobile clinics and the implementation of protocols.
