Port-au-Prince, May 3, 2024 --- With the support of UNFPA in Haiti, MDM Suisse organized mobile and mobilization teams against gender-based violence (GBV) in several displaced sites in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince (Rex Théâtre, Nouveau Lycée Marie Jeanne, Collège Antilles, Caroline Cheveau and Deï Virtus}. During these clinics, 1931 people including 822 women followed group psychosocial activities and awareness sessions against GBV.

With the aim of strengthening access to services by certain categories of people affected by the current crisis, UNFPA, in collaboration with FADHRIS, has carried out 2 mobile clinics especially for pregnant women and people living with disabilities within a community space in Delmas 83. 120 people were affected including 55 women, 2 girls and 25 women with disabilities. 25 dignity kits were distributed to women and girls living with disabilities.

Representatives of UNFPA, PAHO/WHO and UNICEF made a joint visit to the Eliezr Germain hospital center to ensure the progress of services after the delivery of medical supplies and medical equipment by UNFPA and PAHO/WHO. Representatives discussed gaps and unmet needs with medical staff. A portable ultrasound machine was handed over to the same hospital by the UNFPA Representative on May 1, 2024 to improve emergency maternal and neonatal care.

In order to strengthen the resilience of populations affected by the crisis and avoid the adoption of negative survival mechanisms, 956 vulnerable women and girls, including survivors of GBV, benefited from cash assistance to meet their most urgent needs.

The Fontaine Hospital Center took care of 171 people including 19 pregnant women in Sibert (Croix des Bouquets) on April 30, 2024.
